You say yes first
Nothing travels until you agree. How and where you are asked is not designed yet. Say no and your points stay where you earned them.
The umbrella is a group of stores, run by different merchants, that agree to honour each other’s points. A shopper who earns at one umbrella store can spend at any other. Stores opt in for a fee; shoppers opt in with a yes.
A coalition loyalty programme is a group of separate businesses that honour each other’s points: a shopper earns at one and spends at another. The umbrella is Matrix Rewards’ planned coalition for online stores; it is not built yet, and no store is earning or spending umbrella points today.
Not the same as the Multi-Store Wallet.
The Multi-Store Wallet links stores that belong to one merchant, so their shoppers hold one balance across them. The umbrella joins stores owned by different merchants. Outside the umbrella, one merchant’s points never travel to another’s.
HeldThe wallet is described as what the plan does; it is held from the live site until two stores have been linked end to end on a live store.
Your email is your identity at every store in the umbrella. Once you agree, points earned at any umbrella store can be spent at any other, as a discount code at that store’s checkout, the same way as today.

One email. One umbrella balance.
Every point still remembers the store that gave it.
One merchant’s store
A paid order here earns points at this store’s rate. The points are tagged “earned at store A”.
A different merchant’s store
The shopper takes a reward here. It becomes a single-use discount code for this store’s checkout.
Your store here
Any store that opts in. The same shopper, recognised by the same email, can spend here too.
Behind the scenes, the intended model is that the store that gave the points funds the discount the other store gave; the terms of that are not set yet. The shopper never sees it; the merchants settle it between them.
Nothing travels until you agree. How and where you are asked is not designed yet. Say no and your points stay where you earned them.
Your history shows each earn and spend with the store it happened at. Your balance is recounted from that history every time it is shown, never nudged up or down.
Umbrella stores recognise you by email and see your points activity. No name, phone or address is read by the programme at any store.
Your store opts in for a fee. Shoppers who earned at any other umbrella store can then spend at yours, and yours can spend at theirs. Your own programme keeps running exactly as it does today.
The fee is not set yet.
A per-store membership fee, on top of whichever plan the store is already on. The amount, the billing period and the clearing rate between merchants are decisions still to be made. The clearing rate is not set yet.
The intended model is that when a shopper spends points at your store that were earned somewhere else, the store that gave them funds the discount you gave. Because every point carries the store it came from, the platform can work out who owes whom: points are spent oldest first, and each period a settlement report lists what each store owes and is owed, with anything odd flagged. The clearing rate and the settlement terms are not set yet.
Today a member exists once per merchant and per email; one merchant’s points never reach another. The umbrella changes that only for shoppers who say yes: they agree that the umbrella stores may recognise them by email and share their points activity. Each store remains a separate controller of its own data, so the merchant data agreement gains an umbrella schedule. That schedule is not written yet.
Joining is not open yet. Registering interest puts your store on the list we come back to when it is, and lets us ask you what the fee and the clearing terms need to look like.
Matrix Health Group’s own stores, Senseless and Totally Numb, will be the first two in. Nobody has joined because joining is not open yet. This list is the honest state of it and only grows when a store has actually joined.
Senseless
One of Matrix Health Group’s own online stores. Matrix Rewards grew out of the points engine built for it.
Totally Numb
Matrix Health Group’s second online store.
Registering interest is not a commitment and costs nothing. What it gets you: the fee and the clearing terms as soon as they are set, before anyone is asked to join.
No commitment and no fee today. We will come back to you with the fee, the clearing terms and the data schedule before anything is switched on, and you decide then.
