What you owe your shoppers: the points they can spend, what those points would cost you, and how many members you have.
Install seeds a working programme, so most of this page is about putting points where your shoppers will see them. The admin paths are written out exactly, step by step.
Setting up Matrix Rewards is four things: install from the App Store, let Set up suggest your rates, place the two theme blocks from the theme editor, and turn on the Rewards page in customer accounts under Settings › Checkout › Customize. A paid order then earns points within seconds.
The Rewards page inside a shopper’s account needs new customer accounts, Shopify’s current account system. The account page is the one part that needs new customer accounts; if your store still uses classic accounts, switch them on first.

Home, the first screen: what you owe your shoppers.
You open the app from your Shopify admin. Everything below is in the left-hand menu.
What you owe your shoppers: the points they can spend, what those points would cost you, and how many members you have.
Suggested rates and rewards for your kind of store, with the reasoning, including advice to lower the rate if your margins are thin.
Points per £1, what a point is worth, and your rewards; a live panel shows what an order would earn as you type.
Each shopper and their full history: every earn, spend and refund.
Outstanding points and their cash value, with a CSV to download.
Style the storefront blocks and set the words every surface uses, beside a live preview drawn by the same code your shop runs.
Make keys so your own systems can read your programme and, if you allow it, change points or cancel unused codes. See and revoke every key.
Two theme blocks on the storefront and one page inside the shopper’s account. None of them appear until you place them.
“Points on this product”, in one click
In the app, open Set up›Add points to your product page. Shopify’s theme editor opens with the block already added to your product template. Press Save.
The Rewards panel
In the theme editor, on the page you want it on: Add block›Apps›Rewards›Save. The panel shows a shopper their balance and the rewards they can take.
Give the panel its own page template
A block added to the default page template appears on every page that uses it. Make a page template called “rewards”, add the panel to that one, and assign it to a single page.

Set up: suggested rates, and the one-click product-page block.
This needs three things. Miss one and a signed-in shopper sees an error, so do them in order.
New customer accounts must be on
In your Shopify admin: Settings›Customer accounts. The Rewards page lives inside new customer accounts only.
Add the page to accounts
Settings›Checkout›Customize, then open a customer account page. In the Apps panel choose Matrix Rewards›Add page to Accounts›Save.
Take the “Add to menu” option
After adding the page, Shopify offers Add to menu and drops you into the customer account main menu with a Rewards item already there. Take it and save; it is the quickest way to give the page a link.
After saving, the menu editor may still show only Orders and Profile. It did save. Check Content›Menus›Customer account main menu, where Rewards is listed, rather than adding it again.
Then sign in as a shopper and open Rewards. A real balance on the page means all three are done.
A shopper spends points on a reward you set the value of. Each reward becomes a single-use discount code they enter at checkout.
When you refund an order, by picking items or by typing an amount, the points it earned come back out in the same share as what was refunded, bonuses and referral credit included, and never more than the order earned. You do not have to do anything in the app.
Balances are recounted from the whole history every time they change, so a refund never leaves a balance out of step with the record. If a refund leaves a shopper owing points, an unused reward code they can no longer afford is switched off. The shopper’s Members page shows the refund as its own line.
“There’s a problem loading this page”
On the Rewards page inside a shopper’s account
The page is deployed and linked in the menu but was not activated. Go back to Add the page to accounts: Settings › Checkout › Customize, open a customer account page, Apps, Matrix Rewards, Add page to Accounts, Save.
“Sign in to see your points”
For a shopper who is already signed in
Write to support@matrixhealthgroup.co.uk with your store’s address and we will look into it. Nothing in your theme needs changing.
No name, phone or address. The email is how a shopper’s orders, points and rewards are tied together. If you turn on a birthday bonus, it is only paid to a shopper who chose to give their birthday, and we ask for day and month only, never the year.
Expiry is off unless you switch it on, and when you do, the shortest period allowed is 12 months.
The meter counts only the orders that earned points: not orders placed, not refunds, not redemptions. A store that installs and switches nothing on is metered at zero. The Free plan is listed as 200 orders a month that earn points; see Pricing.
Step by step, screen by screen: how to set up and run your programme in the Matrix Rewards app. Each page also exists as plain text, for an assistant to read.
Email support@matrixhealthgroup.co.uk with your store’s address and which step you are on. The people who reply are the people who built it.
Not installed yet?
Install seeds a working programme, so the setup above is all that stands between you and the first order that earns points.
